Our recent work for this global Wrangler campaign showcases what we do best at Heavy Duty, working with a client to explore many directions, to yield the best musical outcome for a company. Initially hired as music supervisors, we explored dusty gems versus commissioning something custom by a contemporary artist. Eventually we landed on the deep cut “I Want To Be Free” by the Sparkles (1967). After finding the song and negotiating the rights on behalf of our client, we gave the track a remix treatment for Wrangler’s 2021 audience.
This week, the Gossip Girl reboot will premiere on HBO Max. We are excited to announce Heavy Duty Projects ECD Ariel Rechtshaid has signed on as series composer via our original score division. Rechtshaid, one of the founders of Heavy Duty, is a 3x Grammy Winning Producer and songwriter who works across the pop spectrum with Artists like Adele, Haim, Vampire Weekend and many others.
We are all celebrating HD Creative Director, Daniel Nigro, on his massive achievement. Dan took home the Best Pop Vocal Album GRAMMY for Olivia Rodrigo’s SOUR which he produced and co-wrote. Olivia Rodrigo was recognized with an additional 2 GRAMMYs for Best New Artist and Best Pop Solo Performance.

The album features “Face the Music” composed by Heavy Duty, aka the song Bill and Ted write in order to save the universe. Special congrats to our ECD/Co-Founder Ariel Rechtshaid for his 3rd Album of the Year Nomination, this year for his work co-producing HAIM’s “Women in Music: PT III”.
